To Remember is to Honor

Our nation remembered our veterans last week. Poignant stories and pictures were prevalent in our social media feeds. News channels aired moving stories about our soldiers. Restaurants and coffee stands abounded with offers of free drinks and meals to those who served. Sports teams showed their "Salute to Veterans" with special uniforms and sideline gear. Schools invited veterans as special guests to their Veteran's Day programs.
Thank you to those who served, are serving, or gave the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. Freedom isn't free. The cost is paid by those in our military who serve and protect. And they're supported by the families that stand behind them.
I want to personally thank:
My husband, US Army
My grandfather, Navy
My grandfather-in-law, Air Force
My father-in-law, Navy
My brother, Navy, Army
Several cousins, Marines, Army
My son-in-law, Army Reserves
And to the many other friends and family who've given their time and energy for our country through their service. They represent service in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Serbia, Desert Storm, Iraq, Afghanistan and many tours abroad and at home.
Their duty shaped their lives forever. They deserve a thank you every day, not just once a year. So, when you see a veteran or someone actively serving, stop and shake their hand. Give them a heartfelt thank you. Quietly purchase their meal, coffee, or groceries. Send a card, note, or text. They served for you.
THANK YOU!!

You have MANY in your family who served! What a great heritage!
I try to always give a passing Vet a big "Thank you for serving"
