Naming Rights: Nail Polish

I like word games, snappy titles, and descriptive adjectives. Clever sayings make me smile. When you combine that with rich, gorgeous colors meant for your fingers and toes, I can be entertained for quite some time. Yes, I'm talking about nail polish. The little bottles that beckon with every color and shade of the rainbow, lined up with precision on the shelves with clever lighting highlighting the shimmer and sparkle of the product.

"Mademoiselle": the most classic, grown up, light pink nail polish. "Ballet Slippers", "Limo Scene", "Fairy Tailor". All of these descriptions and names are from the brand, Essie. I needed to restock polish and spent fun minutes perusing the polish aisle at the local CVS. There are so many choices geared to different ages, different seasons, and different events. But it's the names that get me. Every time. Paired with sparkles, clear coats, sheer shine and color saturation, it makes the chore of stocking up at the drug store a little less like work and more like play.

The Essie polish I picked out had these entertaining names: "Mrs. Always Right", "The Snuggle is Real" and "Always Transparent." They joined my Maui Soap Co. polish with the names of "Wailea", "No Ka Oi" and "Island Time."

Trending summer colors by the Essie brand also include, "Geranium", "Watermelon", "Matter of Fiction" (blush pink), "First Fitting" (white) and a lavender rose color, "Haute to trot." Shades in blue included "Bikini so Tini", "First View" and "You do Blue". Greens were the inspiration for "Crunch Crunch" and "Emerald Cut". I love the many nature inspired hues. The brilliant yellow of buttercups. The deep blue of a summer sky. The pale silver of a winterscape in moonlight. The verdant green of freshly mown grass.

We have a wedding to attend this summer. "Tuck it in my Tux", "Boatloads of Love", "First Fitting", "Pre Show Jitters" and "Princess Charming" are all contenders. The many hues make it hard to decide.
