The Sunshine's Back, Baby!

From October to March, the sun does not hit our home. We live in the midst of a forest with very tall trees to the south and west of us and in the fall and winter, the sunlight is blocked. I took this picture on a recent morning. The sun is finally coming into our windows. The warm fingers stretch across the walls and floor and illuminate the room. It made me happy. I watch every day as its path extends through different rooms of my house.
Sunlight brings me joy. It makes my indoor plants happy, too. There's just something uplifting about sunshine coming into my home. It reiterates that spring is here and that summer is just around the corner. It also shows me places that I need to dust.

Even when it's cold, we still spend as much time as we can outside. Our daily walks take us to any sunny spot we can find. Creeks, rivers, lakes, open fields, sprawling neighborhoods.
I love to watch the mist rise from the water and evaporate in the sunlight. A sunrise reminds me that Christ's mercies are new every morning. A sunset is a gentle benediction on a day well spent. And no two are ever the same.
Take advantage of the extra minutes of daylight that we are gaining. Spend more time outside in the warming weather. Enjoy some time planting hardy flowers or seeds. Or, if you're like our dog, enjoy those sunbeams indoors napping.

What is your favorite part of the extended daylight hours? Do you go hunt for the sunshine during the winter months?
